KEEP YOUR KIDS SAFE & HEALTHY
Even before the recent emergence of coronavirus, the back-to-school season always brought an increased risk of catching a cold or the flu. But with this back-to-school season, parents are even more concerned about the health and safety of their children at school, at daycare, and at home.
At Discovery Tree Academy, our priority is keeping your children healthy while also providing a child development center where your children are cared for but are also pushed to meet developmental and educational goals.
Read through some of our tips to help your kids stay healthy, and also keep their immune system strong and supported.
KEEP THEM MOVING
Constantly give your children opportunities to move and stay active — especially if they aren’t able to play in their usual sport at school.
If you’re looking for ideas, take a look at our blog How to Keep Kids Active at Home.
FIND A CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER
Whether your children are transitioning to online learning or are going back to school in some capacity, parents’ childcare needs might extend beyond school time. Our child development center offers before and after school care, along with pre-kindergarten programs for children that aren’t old enough for kindergarten.
HEALTHY EATING
When it comes to meals, is your child making healthy choices? If you’ve been laxer about mealtimes and eating out this summer, start the school year off strong with a focus on incorporating healthy foods.
If you’re looking for foods that will help give your children’s immune system a boost, try incorporating some of these great choices:
- Yogurt: Contains probiotics that help body fight sickness
- Walnuts: Contain healthy omega-3 fatty acids
- Fruits & Vegetables: Citrus fruits, bell peppers, broccoli, and sweet potatoes are high in vitamin C
- Lean Meats: Protein and zinc that strength the body and help white blood cells fight off infection
HAND WASHING & HAND SANITIZER
While this is always important, make sure that your children understand the importance of routinely cleaning their hands. Help them learn to wash their hands at least once an hour and use hand sanitizer after touching surfaces that might be dirty or contaminated.
At our child development center, we will ensure that our surfaces are routinely sanitized along with encouraging consistent hand washing and hand sanitizing opportunities.
ENROLL YOUR CHILDREN TODAY
At Discovery Tree Academy in Springville and Payson, our priority is ensuring that your children are safe and protected while they are at our child development center. We hope that these tips help you prepare for back-to-school season
