EASY AT-HOME CRAFTS FOR YOUR CHILDREN
Right now, children are spending most of their time at home. From finding ways you can keep them active to different activities you can easily do at home, you might feel like you’re running out of things to do with them!
Don’t worry! Discovery Tree Academy in Springville, a child development center, is here with some crafts you can easily do with your children at home!
LET’S GET CRAFTING!
Crafts are a great way to fill up the afternoon with something that encourages their creativity and teamwork. Whether they’re building something out of playdough or creating something you can hang on the wall, give them some freedom to grow and learn through some of these fun craft ideas!
PULL OUT THE PERLER BEADS
Perler beads have been around for a long time. But if you haven’t used your bin of perler beads in a while, it might be time to break that out! There are endless possibilities for the styles and designs you can make using perler beads — and an endless amount of designs available online!
EASTER-THEMED CRAFTS
Easter falls in April, so use this month to create some festive crafts with your children. A classic Easter tradition is dying and decorating eggs. You can make your own Easter egg dye or decorate your eggs with acrylic paint, melted wax, hot glue, tissue paper, and more!
Once your kids have their Easter eggs ready to go in their basket, think about creating an Easter bunny — along with other farm friends like baby chickens, roosters, cows, and more. You can cut out these animal shapes, or decorate some wood ones, and glue or tape them to the end of a stick for a cute craft.
DESIGN SOCK PUPPETS
Puppets are a great at-home craft because, once your children have created their own characters, there are endless possibilities for the shows they can put on. If you have an extra cardboard box lying around your home, make them a stage where their new sock puppet friends can come to life!
PAINTING TIME
Painting is a great way for children to express their creativity — just make sure you cover the area with plenty of trash bags or tarps. Lay some paper out and let them express themselves. Or you can find old or plain dishes or pots you have lying around the house and let them add an artistic touch to it.
If you’re fine with the mess, also encourage your children to fingerpaint. You can make some cute pictures, like a fingerprint tree, animals out of hand prints, or cute flowers using a giant print of their hand.
HOMEMADE SOAP
Right now, you can’t have enough soap. So why not turn that into a craft project with your children! You can add fun things, like little plastic animals or beads, to clear soap or let your kids test out mixing together different colors or soap designs.
PBS has an easy soap recipe that you can do with the entire family — and you can order all of the ingredients you need online!
