SUMMER SURVIVAL GUIDE FOR YOUR KIDS

Discovery Tree Academy

This summer, it might seem challenging to find ways to keep your children engaged and entertained. But there are different things you can do to make the most of their time off from school, while also keeping them engaged and away from spending too much time in front of a screen.

At Discovery Tree Academy in Springville and Payson, we are here to help children meet those important developmental milestones through the curriculum at our child development center. From summer camp to our preschool program and before and after school clubs, contact us today to enroll your child or learn more about our programs!

SUMMER SURVIVAL GUIDE

Read through our summer survival guide for tips to help keep your kids engaged and feel like you’re creating an educational and fun summer experience for your kids!

CREATE A ROUTINE

Throughout the school year, you create a routine with your children. While they might not be in school, create a routine that will give them the same structure. What are some activities they can do each day?

For example, you could challenge them to read a certain number of books during the summer and allot time each day for them to read. You can even check your local library to see if they’re running any summer reading programs.

BE FLEXIBLE

When something goes wrong, or you have to cancel your plans because someone is sick or having a bad day, just remember to be willing to adapt and change your plans. Additionally, if you plan out every second of your child’s summer, that schedule can get in the way of fun. Leave some time to be spontaneous and surprise your kids with an unplanned, fun-filled day.

WORK TOGETHER

To keep your children engaged, and make sure they enjoy their summer activities, brainstorm with them. Ask them to set their own goals for this summer. Is there an academic subject they want to work on this summer? Are there certain books they want to read? When your children are involved with making those choices, they are also held accountable for working towards those goals.

FIND A SUMMER CAMP

If you can, find a summer camp that provides them a great way to interact with their peers while also expanding their academic opportunities.

At Discovery Tree Academy in Springville and Payson, we are still offering our summer camp. Contact us to enroll your child today and learn more about the health precautions we are taking to keep your children safe and protected.

TRUST OUR CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER
